Hi :) It might be good to contact the devs list about this. Normally people just post bug-reports http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport and leave the devs to get on with it, perhaps answering their questions and testing patches they might produce.
However, if you want to get involved with coding it might be good to contact their list directly. It might be good to do a few "Easy Hacks" first http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Easy_Hacks just to get used to coding for LibreOffice and perhaps get some feedback on questions you might have about doing the coding. I guess that if you have done coding for another project then maybe just 1 or 2 easy hacks might be enough to work it all out but i think they have got a good system for helping people learn their way in quite quickly. What we need is an offset box that allows us to move ruby BOTH closer to and farther away from the Japanese.
