Cor, thanks for your response. I did attempt to isolate the problem as you describe, but I do not get consistent results.
Incidentally I came across that bug yesterday (or the day before, do not remember).
I guess this is the bug https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41054 not crashing for most, just not able to save. It's on some of the older files.
