Hi Tom,
However, I read where the developers of LibreOffice removed
"garbage code" that was deemed unnecessary. I use both OpenOffice.org
AND LibreOffice. When reading and modifying Microsoft Power Point
files OpenOffice.org did a considerably better job than LibreOffice
3.4.5 (for business purposes). However, I upgraded to LibreOffice 3.5
and 3.5 does a considerably better job with PPT files than 3.4.5 On the
other hand, LibreOffice will read in to modify certain pdf files in
Impress, where OpenOffice.org will not.

Hi :)
OpenOffice is usually a 'previous version' of LibreOffice as they both come
from the same code-base. The Apache Foundation are working on a newer
version of OpenOffice but i think so far there are no versions of OpenOffice
that are newer than the first release of LibreOffice. I could easily be
wrong.
It's not about being a previous release though. It's about being another
version of what is essentially the same program. If you want to run more
than 1 version of OpenOffice and/or LibreOffice there is a guide to help.
Regards from
Tom :)
