Do you need to view the document within the browser? You could add the 'load url bar' to the toolbar and copy the url into LO; this would allow you to view documents directly from the web server without downloading a local copy to your local disk. Similarly, using opera, you could configure the web browser to open the document using LO by passing the url of the document directly to LO, again avoiding download of a copy to your local disk.
