Hi :) I was thinking of file-names such as "Clients-Ab-Am" ... "Clients-V-Z" or perhaps by date although by date ends up being a nightmare. Alphabetical is usually easier.
I'm not sure how smart-phones work but i imagine they have folders and sub-folders so a sub-folder called "Clients" containing all these files would be easy to scroll through to find the relevant file quite quickly. With some OSes If you type the first letter of the file you are looking for then it automatically scrolls to roughly the right area. Another solution would be to put the client names = file names in another file. It would mean an extra step when adding a new client, but at least it would be a simple step, if I can't get the names of all the files. I'll have to ponder which of these ways will be the best. Yes, this would work better in a database, but I need to be able to enter the ledger data from my phone, and have it give me the current balance. And I need to do calculations on the computer, but still have all the data in the spreadsheet, available on the phone. Thanks!
