I am the OP.
No, I have not tried ODBC. The only configuration documentation I have
been able to get for MySQL and Base, used JDBC. At the time, that
documentation was not in the OOo/LO manuals. I had to search the web
for it.
If you have links to LO/OOo configuration documentation for ODBC
connection to MySQL, I would be willing to try it.
