I get the same thing for the self signed cert I use on our web server
(company access only) and on my router.

The whole point of certificates is trust. If anyone can issue a self
signed certificate, then it's essentially useless for a signature and I
wouldn't want to trust it for encryption either. I used to use Thawte
certificates, with their "web of trust". I had to verify my ID to
qualify my certificate for signatures.
