Hi :) I think it would be great to add a feature request for that. People in my office are very unclear about the current arrangement and never know whether they should or whether they MUST NOT allow those sorts of links to update when they open a file.
Having any sort of information about what the external links are would help a lot. Even just something that tells which file-name is being used would help but it would be great if it could go further. To: [email protected] Date: Friday, 29 June, 2012, 7:58 I have several slides which I include in multiple presentations, such as a contact details slide. Impress offers a way to include a slide from a separate odp presentation, using the menu option Insert -> File. Choosing the "Link" option during the slide importation allows you to update the included slide should the original slide have undergone changes. Very nice. There appears to be a problem with the implementation, however. There doesn't seem to be any way to visually know that a slide depends on (is linked to) an external "master" slide. So a user could / will unknowing make changes to a slide and then proceed to overwrite these changes the next time they open the impress slide set accepting the "update linked slides" prompt. Not good for data integrity. I searched the bug tracker using the keywords "impress import file link" but didn't find any reference to this issue. I'd like to log an enhancement request to ask for a visual clue that a slide is linked to an external slide (I suspect that implementation cannot be too difficult) but I thought I'd check with other users before I do so.
