Hi Larry,

I purged OO and installed LO. Still using Ubuntu 10.04.

Did you also purge (or otherwise rename) your OOo user configuration folder ?

If I open one of my databases in LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 it works fine. If
I open the other, I can read it but I cannot add a new record nor can I
edit an existing record. It seems to somehow be marked as read-only.

I have been unable to find a way to make it read/write. I got around
the problem by exporting to a spreadsheet, creating a new database, and
importing to that database.

It might be, and this is only a guess, that LO has found bits of your OOo user configuration and that the XCU/XCS files in that are being misinterpreted. This has been known to lead to the symptoms you describe, including being able to read/write to one ODB file and only read the other ODB file.

So, if you have done it already, I would suggest :
- shutting down LO if it is running;
- removing both the old OOo user configuration folder and the LO user configuration - note that the user configuration location changed between LO 3.4 and LO 3.5, so it would be wise to check in both places ;
- restarting LO - the user configuration folder will be created anew.

I can't guarantee this will change anything, but it might.
