Have you looked at the Artha Thesaurus/Dictionary? It's free, runs on
Linux, does not invoke Bing or any other junk like that. Try it.

Thanks, but that really doesn't replace the embedded thesaurus that
used to be in LO. If I have to go external, I usually use
thesaurus.com.

Install this dictionary/thesaurus. If it gives you a thesaurus back, then it is a problem with 3.6.0's thesaurus. If it does not, then something is wrong with the system itself. Also try renaming the ".libreoffice" hidden folder to see if by the package generating a new one it gives you back your thesaurus.

I do have other version of English, if American English is not what you need, plus over 180 other dictionaries, thesaurus, etc., in the dictionary list.

Also, Artha is the best offline definition and thesaurus package I know of, but it is easier to have on inside LO. Artha will give you more info than LO's system might for the thesaurus, though. The key for me is the fact that is it an "offline" package so you do not need to have the package look up the needed search at some web site to give you the results. I include it with the current NA-DVD package as one of the "Extras".
