Hi :)
In Gedit (just a text-editor so it's not as fancy as Writer) when i do search
it flags up all occurences by giving them a yellow background.  The currently
selected one has a grey background.  Since i know what i selected i can shrink
the document so that i can barely see the tiny words.  Just their location is
enough for me to see whether to let the replace happen or skip to the next
one.  I thought Writer would do roughly the same?

I agree it's a tad annoying if it doesn't automatically scroll to the next one
when asked!

On Ubuntu 12.04 with a LO 3.5.4 from the repos (ie not an installed .deb from
the TDF downloads opage) it does scroll through just fine.  Have you tried
renaming your user-profile to see if that shakes it loose?
Regards from
Tom :)
