Yes, that is true. There has been a previous thread on allowed
characters and extension names of DBF files in this user list, some time
ago, it will be in the archives of the mailing list.

You might find that you actually have to save the ODB file, shut down LO
and restart it completely (including any quickstarter if you are on
Windows). The refresh button doesn't seem to perpertuate the refreshed
table schema to the ODB configuration file, which is why you then get an
error.


Additionally, LO only supports DBF from dbf III+ and dbf IV from what I
recall, but Andreas might know more about that than I do, so if your
DBFs use an earlier version, then they probably won't be recognised by LO.
