Hi Brian,

Your "messy workaround" was far more straight forward than my messier work around, which was to export to PDF then use OCR software to get the text.

I don't know why it didn't occur to me to select the text via the PDF reader..

Someone has sent me a long presentation in ppt format which consists mainly of text. It is somewhat annoying to try to read and absorb the intent of the text. Is there a simple way to extract the text from the entire slide show and save it as a text document- I don't care what format it is as long as it is on one page instead of 45?

Here's a rather messy workaround:
o Open the presentation in Impress.
o Go to File | Export as PDF... to create a PDF copy.
o Open the PDF copy in your favourite PDF reader and save as text from there.
