This seems to me like a formatting glitch. You get the date number [1]
but you have to format it as a date with the options you need (can't be
more specific WRT macros as I've got macrophobia).
[1] In spreadsheets, dates are stored and handled as integer numbers.
They convey the number of days since a reference date, most usually
December 30th, 1899.
