You were all right in what you said.......

 * I WAS looking for the Windows version for a friend (I'm using Linux)

 * I WAS fooled by the "Button that is not a Button"!! IMHO this is a
   very bad way of doing things. In computer UIs these days something
   that looks like a Button is accepted as such and you just click on it!!
   I would recommend a change here ASAP!!

Regarding looking in my PCLinux Repos for the latest version of LO - I'm afraid they are very slow to put these up which forces you to run a version or two behind. I have however found a couple of times that the 'normal' .rpm files DO work OK so thought I should try this again. Will give it a go later in the week.

I managed to download a .msi file yesterday for LO for Windows which, it says, is the new replacement for .exe .....
Ummm - we will see I guess.
