And yes, I haven't ruled out the possibility that there might even be a bug in the functioning of LO, as mailmerge is not one of the most reliable/complete aspects of LO at the moment. As with most things Base-related, bits of it regularly break down with successive version releases of LO. In fact, I don't think that there has been a release yet of LO where Base functionality as a whole wasn't degraded in some way. That is why some of us, let's call ourselves the "war-weary", prefer to remain with older versions of LO, i.e. 3.3.x for Base related stuff.
