Hi Dries,

that can by a task for the pivot table. The column, which should be sum up, goes into the "data field" in the middle and the item by which it is grouped goes into the "row fields". In the "More" section you can determine, where the resulting table is written. With a double click on the sum (=drill down) you get the filtered table.

Or you use the sheet for a database and define a query.

If you know, which items occur, you can use all the other counting methods. http://www.ooowiki.de/H%C3%A4ufigkeitsVerteilung

Or you sort the rows on Column B (the items) (or let them sort automatically, see Options in subtotal) and use Data > Subtotal.

There are likely more ways to do it.

Kind regards
Regina

Hello,

I received today a question about a spreadsheet I can't answer
immediately. Though I'm convinced this must be possible.

We have a sheet with
A : stock location
B : item n°
C : quantity

The user wants now the sum per item, preferable in another sheet with
the same layout, or in a automatically generated accumulated line.

In the help I can see something about array formulas, which seems
interesting, but I want an automatic break per item no.

Example

|--A---|----B----|----C----|
|WH1| Item1 | 10 |
|WH1| Item1 | 10 |
|WH1| Item1 | 10 |
|WH1| Item1 | 10 |
|WH1| Item1 | 10 |
