Hi :) Good news :) The reinstall route does sound like it's going to be a Pita and stuff-up everything but in Windows it does have that neat bypass into Repair or Modify mode. Gnu&Linux doesn't.
It is odd that she chose the slightly more geeky route but that opens up opportunities for her in the future. Nicely done and top marks to her!
