Hi :) When you "Export to Pdf" does the link work in the Pdf even without using the ⌘ ?
In the editable file when you do the equivalent of right-clicking the image and get the pop-up dialogue box and then click on the relevant tab does it still show the url starting with http? I have found that when i have an image inside a frame i tend to get the hyperlink either in the image or in the frame but seldom in both and that can cause some confusion. At first i started putting the links into both or deliberately used the fact they could be different to do 'clever' things but fairly soon i realised i didn't need the frames at all and that the whole document looked better without them. My guess is that you haven't fallen into the same tricky trap as me but it's worth asking just in case you are.
