Why don't you run it from your hard drive? You can unpack it anywhere and it
won't affect the installed version in any way...

The last time I installed a new version, I went from 3.5.7 to 4.0.5. The version 4 completely deleted my 3.5.7, which I did *not* want. I later found out on this list that such was apparently normal behavior. I don't want to risk the same thing happening again.

Even better: if you have a slow PC try X-LibreOffice. I guarantee you that
it is even faster than the installed version ;)

My PC is plenty fast enough for me. But, for my jump drive, I'll check out the X version. I had never heard of it before. Thanks for the tip.
