Hi :) The only thing i could suggest would be to post a bug-report about it and try to keep or create originals of documents in native ODF format where-ever possible only exporting to non-native formats when you really need to.
Now that MS Office 2013 has support for ODF there is less and less reason to use flaky formats that change at the whim of a single profit-making company between any 2 of their own releases. The ODF specification is drawn up by a committee of many different companies, around 5,000 (afaik) including IBM and Microsoft, so it's less likely to be suddenly changed without warning. Also it is more transparently obvious when any product fails to implement the spec and most companies allow individuals to post bug-reports to bring their products implementation more in line with the specification.
