It corrupted a spreadsheet for me and I couldn't repair it with LibreOffice, so I installed Apache OpenOffice and opened it. Apache OpenOffice repaired the file for me and I have been using it ever since, and since then the spreadsheet never got corrupted again. That's probably not the solution you are looking for, I just wanted to say that you are probably not the only one who had this problem, but I'm not 100% sure it's the same bug.
