Hello I have thought about LO on an iPad, having recently purchased an iPad Mini, but I think a full office suite would be overkill. To me the alternative is to use Apple's own Pages, Keynote and Numbers for any office work. The only problem there is that LO format is incompatible with Pages, Keynote and Numbers. You have to have your office files in Microsoft format if you want to work on the move with an iPad.
Being an Apple user, I do use Pages, Keynote and Numbers for all my personal needs and find it good software to use, especially when you use the Apple iCloud service. Typing on an iPad is not problem, if you can accept the smallness of the screen and the limitations posed by an iPad. However, using a Bluetooth keyboard with an iPad improves the situation, even on the move if you have a folio case with keyboard attached to your iPad (Logitech make one). If LO can produce a version for the iPad, I would definitely give it a serious trial because LO is a very alternative to all that office software out there that you have to pay for.
