Hi Tim :) That happens sometimes when you "click" the mouse wheel. The wheel doesn't look like a button but it often is on mice (mouses. micii?) made in the last few years.
If you are not on Windows then you can probably configure it, 'globally' (ie for all apps on your machine), to do something else or to do nothing.
