Ok the product I am producing is an index. the
publisher wants a crazy format with lines like
this:

maximizing the difference of @@ 1.8 2.28

bald eagle. See American bald eagle; endangered
species.
--------------------------
1.8 and 2.28 are paragraph numbers that the
publisher will convert to page numbers. This
is about three times as much work for me.

 The word See was in larger sans serif font. so when I did my index
that is what I used. but what was needed is the
normal practice, italics for the word See.

The word processor I use, Libre writer, had made
a font substitution in the doc file.

After I get paid for the index I will suggest to
them that:
a. the crazy format increases the amount I must
charge for an index.

b. Their instructions should be distributed as a
pdf with fonts embedded to avoid the kind of
error I made.
