Interesting ... I just tried what you suggested (using the 4.3 alpha), and I was indeed able to then delete the table after adding data to a cell.
When I initially encountered the problem, I had also entered data into the cells, but I did so solely by pasting data into several cells. It doesn't seem reasonable that pasting versus typing would make the table act differently, but stranger things have happened. So I tried creating a new table, then pasting again and was still able to delete the table. Does whoever made the change to the earlier 4.2.2 code have the ability to compare old / new side by side to see if anything is obvious? Something strange is going on. If I do run into the this behavior (or misbehavior) again, I'll try to pay more attention to what I was doing at the time, but I decided to stay away from tables in the project I'm working on at the moment, so that isn't likely.
