AFAIK, F11 brings up the Styles menu on both Ubuntu & Mint.

AFAIK, Ctrl+F10 shows non-printing characters in Writer on both Ubuntu & Mint.

Perhaps the difference is XCFE.

(File) Tools / Customise - Keyboard tab, will let you look at all the
keyboard shortcuts and change them.
