This (the post from Italo, below) was interesting! :)

It's fairly rare to even get the scheduled x.x.7 for a branch.  Usually by
the x.x.6 (or even the x.x.4) all the issues are about as solved as it's
possible to get imo.  People working on longer-running issues seem to have
moved onto the 'newer' branch (or master or whatever) instead of trying to
get it fixed at the end of the older branch.

It is both slightly disturbing but also very nice to see that the older
branch did still get that level of support, when it was apparently needed.
It is very reassuring to see both that it's been an option and that it has
never been needed before.

I'd not noticed any of the problems mentioned in Italo's announcement but i
never hold out much hope for Rtf anyway and we did have that long thread
about Rtf about a month or so ago = so it's nice to see the original poster
getting vindicated there.
