I have imagemagic and ghostscript.
As I mentioned LO4.1 works fine. This was on my linux (opensuse 12.2,13.2) and mac(osx 10.6 - 10.8 I think). It is only LO4.2 and beyond with the problem. The problem is more accurately described by your second reference

Which my reference may be a duplicate of (or may be not).
Anyway it is good that the offending commit seems to have been identified and AOO is a work around.
