LibreLogo has a very simple error function. If there are bugs, a window pops up with a message telling that there is a mistake in the line number x.

'telling that there is a mistake' should be changed maybe to 'stating ...'; an inanimate object cannot tell; which is a form of speaking; ...

Surely you cannot believe this? No-one seriously can! I'm amazed that you can publish this - without apparent embarrassment - to such a large worldwide audience.

Shakespeare has letters and scrolls (written documents, as here) telling things as well as bells and clocks doing so: "... the sound that tells what hour it is / Are clamorous groans, which strike upon my heart, / Which is the bell:" (Richard II: V, 5) "When I do count the clock that tells the time, / And see the brave day sunk in hideous night;" (Sonnet 12)

And G. K. Chesterton opines "A good novel tells us the truth about its hero; but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author."

Will you dig up these authors and reprimand them?

In any case, if telling were indeed restricted to animate beings, surely stating (your suggested replacement) would be similarly restricted?
