Tom (Davies), thought I'd mention that Java is enabled (1.8.0_91) is enabled on my version of LO 5.1.4.2, so it seems unlikely that OP Tom Cloyd's problem - which, as noted above, I do not encounter - is Java- related. As in Bruce's case, My version (1:5.1.4-0ubuntu1~trusty1) was downloaded and installed via the Ubuntu PPA....
