You might not need to deselect the frame first. I'm a little out of date
on 5.1.3, but on that version I can just start typing with the frame
selected, and it starts editing the text. Or press Enter or F2 to switch
to edit mode.

frame to enter the caption you want; note that in my version, the frame
is automatically selected after the insertion so I have to click
somewhere to unselect the frame and then I can click into the frame to
edit the caption.
