For your information, it seems I have the behaviour with LO 5.1.3.2 (on W10) and 5.2.2.2 (on Linux). What is interesting is that it occurs regardless of the letter that is larger in size (e.g. in the sentence "This is a test", you will see it happen when the point size of the letter 's' is changed). This does not occur when Drop Caps is used.
