That's not enough. You also have to designate it as the default template. The 
name doesn't do that. Go to File > Template > Manage Templates, select the 
template and set it as the default template.

Next time, somebody wants an option to set the default page size, or the 
default background color, or ... 
Putting it all in a template is much easier than having options for everything
