Hi John, one hint: *.jpg can't contain transparent background. The contur is mostly set to this transparent background. I would prefer to change the background in the *.png to transparaent background to see how contur should work automatically.
You are using LO 6.3.4.2. LO 6.3 has had end of life at the end of last month. So if it is a bug you will be asked first to reproduce it in LO 6.4.4.2. You could send me the graphic (and also a document, where you tested) per private mail.
