I usually have several writing projects on the go and need to keep track of 
progress. At the moment I have a simple spreadsheet that I update from time to 
time with wordcounts from the documents I’m working on. It occurs to me however 
that somewhere in Writer there must be a function that calculates word count in 
order to display it in the footer display. Is it possible to access that 
function via Calc and keep it automatically updated?




I’m using Windows 10.
