Formatting over a million cells at once opens a *huge* amount of area — are you *really* going to use over a million rows in your spreadsheet??? — and will degrade performance. I understand wanting to highlight cells before usage. But I suspect highlighting the first few thousand cells in a column will be sufficient in almost all cases and will result in improved performance and a smaller file size. -- T. R.
