Before using "Save a Copy", you should rather first use "Save", in order to be absolutely sure that the copy is exactly the same as the original. Otherwise, you could potentially have a copy containing additional steps not yet saved in the original file, or vice versa. 2. "Save a Copy" is slightly different than "Save". When using "Save a Copy", the file you are seeing on screen is still the original file. If you keep editing the file on screen, the next "save" action is still performed on the current file, but not on the copy. 3. "Save a Copy" is slightly different than "Save as". When you "Save as", the file you are seeing on screen is the (new) file you saved (as). In other words, the original file that was originally opened is no longer the file being edited and the changes are no longer saved to it, but to the newly created file, and further changes are not saved to the "Copy" either. So, why is this relevant? Because if you save a file to a removable device and you keep it opened (in LO or elsewhere), then you should not un-mount nor detach the device before closing the file in LO (and/or elsewhere); otherwise you risk the chance of file corruption. In theory, when you "Save a Copy", that copy is not being kept in working status. In short, as a general rule, copying a file to a removable device should not be performed in LO itself, but rather by your file manager, and better when you are certain that the relevant files are not opened (by LO or by any other program). Mixing these operations just increases the chances of file corruption, especially when a removable device is involved.
