Understand. I know almost nothing at all about Mac computers, but, I was not 
aware that you had to pay for any version of LibreOffice. 

Both libre office and open office came from the same place and are very much 
compatible. So if you are able to install LibreOffice no. Should just be able 
to keep working as usual.

My best guess is that if you're not finding a free version of LibreOffice that 
your computer is very old and no longer supported, but every part of that is 
speculation.
