I am trying to use search and replace to find the consistent text at the start of each post and replace it with the same text preceded by a page break. Neither search and replace or the extended  Alt search and replace plugin seem to be able to handle page break as a regular expression.

You may not need Search & Replace at all.

If the beginning of each post can be identified consistently, the most robust Writer approach is probably:

apply a dedicated paragraph style to the post title/opening paragraph
edit that style:
Format -> Paragraph -> Text Flow
enable "Insert page break before"

Then every post automatically starts on a new page without inserting manual page breaks throughout the document.
