I'm sorry, Daniel: you are almost certainly beyond needing this reply, which 
brings no relief in any case, because your problem is probably not caused by 
LibreOffice. You don't say what operating system (that's usually a crucial 
piece of information), but sometimes there's no substitute for having someone 
on the spot who can look at your computer screen and diagnose the problem.

And in the best of lives, with the best of savvy, tech servants will fail us 
sometimes, and we should be prepared to revert to a time before tech servants. 
As you have no doubt seen by now, the sooner you write things down, the more 
easily you will recall what you had on your screen. Happy birthdays to your 
wife and to you.
