Ah, I had completely forgotten qquota! Whoops :-$ My interactive queue is marked as "interactive", but also has a parallel session attached. I make sure that jobs are scheduled to the correct queue using a JSV, which is responsible for setting the hard queue "!interactive.q" parameter, as in the qstat output. Yes, h_vmem is consumable in my configuration. I'll monitor this situation, and if/when it occurs again, I'll post my qquota output.
