If you're prepared to use (roughly) a superset, see the instructions at
<https://arc.liv.ac.uk/trac/SGE#Building> & tarball from
http://arc.liv.ac.uk/downloads/SGE.  If not, the changes to the build
stuff may help.  I haven't been able to work on debian packaging yet
(can anyone contribute?), but it gets built most on ubuntu 10.4.

Binaries from earlier univa source at
http://bioteam.net/dag/gridengine-courtesy-binaries/ but I don't know if
they run on ubuntu

It's a mess & needs explanation but I haven't got round to documenting
it better.  If you need the gui installer or hadoop intgegration I can
check exact requirements.

I hope to package a v800-based release before long with some of that
straightened out -- any contributions to build docs &c very welcome.
