Looking at the various rsh impersonating qrsh wrappers provided with SGE I notice that the difference between the mpi/rsh and the mpi/openmpi/rsh wrapper is that the openmpi variant uses the -V option to pass all environment variables through to the slave processes. What if anything is the downside of the -V option when used with non openmpi versions of MPI? Recent openmpi builds can be built to call qrsh directly anyway.
