I believe the bug existed in Sun Grid Engine for many years, and
really only a few use the qmon GUI (and we prioritize our bug fixing
effort based on many factors, and the number of people who complain to
us is one of them). I always recommend people to use the command line
interface as it is in fact easier, and works over an SSH session. In
fact I recall Chris from the Bioteam also has similar recommendations
as well!

Another thing is that there are very limited ways to test GUI
programs. A few months ago I attended an IBM Rational Functional
Tester workshop, and the product suite has GUI testing automation.
Keep in mind that even if the IBM product is free, GUIs are always
harder to test than command line interface programs.

(On a related note, IBM test suite seems to be focusing more on
REST-based applications than the traditional X11 GUIs programs.)
