Hi folks,
We have a RHEL5 / SGE 6.2u3 cluster that I want to migrate to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
I was thinking of doing it like this :
- cut over 1 node to Ubuntu
- existing queue includes only RHEL nodes so all existing scripts
function normally (albeit with 1 less node to use)
- define a new queue that includes all RHEL and Ubuntu machines
- any code that wants to use the new queue has to be written to
recognize where it is running, and use the right binaries respectively
- get some soak on the above
- once the bugs are worked out, cut over more nodes
One big question I have is whether I need to run SGE 6.2u3 on Ubuntu
as well or can I mix-and-match with a newer version.
How does this strategy seem?
thanks,
-Alan
