Hi I have used Grid engine before but that was on a remote cluster. I am trying to find a way to control batch submission of jobs with a queuing system for deletion and control etc. I have a multicore machine (8 CPU cores) and have legacy single threaded application. Is it possible to configure the multicore machine as a node and then have a single queue where jobs are submitted to run on a single core only? In other words the node will run 8 jobs at a time as separate instances? I have read through some of the documentation pages and there seem to be the required options to limit (request) the number of cores per job, but I am not clear if the scheduler will use the rest of the node? I will have a separate master node from which the jobs will be submitted.
Thank you in advance for any pointers to which parts of the documentation to read.
