Hi, I have not debugged execd before. Any tips on the best practices in debugging execd to find the nature of the env setup issue mentioned?
Symptons: - rh6.3 64bit soge 8.1.3 and ogs 2011.11p1 - a particular env variable set in the client env cannot exceed 9990 characters w/o being truncated when transferred to the execution host. - truncation seen on the prolog level. - qstat -j jobid shows variables fine. - When truncated, remaining characters are used to form new variable(s) - qsub has this issue, but qrsh does not. - there are no ge errors thrown, just the user app has issues b/c of the env variables being truncated/whacked.... If anyone has execd troubleshooting experience for an execd that does not generate an error, please let me know the best way to troubleshoot an execution host env variable setup/transfer issue. I'll keep digging when I have time. I'll look into getting the patch in place and will provide feedback on the results Thanks, Ed -----Original Message----- From: Mark Dixon [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, August 7, 2013 09:32 AM To: 'Ed Lauzier' Cc: [email protected], [email protected] Subject: Re: [SGE-discuss] [gridengine users] variable getting truncated in soge8.1.3 and OGS 2011.11p1 On Sat, 3 Aug 2013, Ed Lauzier wrote:... > Yes, it does appear that if an env variable is in excess of 9990 characters, > the job environment> seems somehow to be corrupted at the prolog level.... Hi Ed,I seem to be having better luck with large environment variables, after applying the patch posted by Thomas Mainka a couple of weeks back: http://gridengine.org/pipermail/users/2013-July/006409.html All the best, Mark -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Mark Dixon Email : [email protected]/Grid Systems Support Tel (int): 35429Information Systems Services Tel (ext): +44(0)113 343 5429University of Leeds, LS2 9JT, UK-----------------------------------------------------------------
