I believe there were some bad interactions with the Lustre file system 
common in clusters when releasing memory cgroups which led to them being 
put on a back burner.      

I remember reading a post on LKML about a patch to the cgroups code that 
looked like it might be a fix for the underlying problem.  I think SoGE 
may have implemented an alternate method of measuring/controlling memory 
usage in the interim.
