Not exactly a hardware spec thing but on a machine that combined NFS and  SGE 
qmaster
we used cpusets/cgroups to restrict the nfsd to a subset of the hosts CPUs 
leaving 
two free for the qmaster.  This appeared to make the qmaster more reliably 
responsive 
when the NFS part was under load.
